Box The City

BUSINESS OF THE MONTH

Floyd Welsh’s entrepreneurial journey started in 2019 at the Milk District’s quarterly event, Milk Mart. As he explored the massive market of independent makers, the idea for BoxTheCity was born.

BoxTheCity connects Orlando small businesses with traveling professionals by providing curated gift boxes for corporate events. Floyd works directly with both local makers and meeting planners to “put the city in a box” for those visiting Central Florida.

Floyd Welsh lights up when he talks about the small businesses he works with and is passionate about showcasing indie Orlando to business travelers from around the world. He describes himself as a tattooed Santa elf who is all about supporting local makers while giving visitors a taste of what The City Beautiful has to offer.

Another way to look at Floyd Welsh is as a bit of a modern Robin Hood. He secures funding from big corporate events and reinvests it back into the local Orlando economy.

Not only is he dedicated to supporting local makers, but he’s also a champion for local causes as well.

BoxTheCity partners with Orlando non-profits as often as possible. One of their favorite partners is the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. Floyd collaborates with them through their A Spoonful of Hope Foundation.

A Spoon Full of Hope is a social enterprise endeavor that creates consumable products (like little bears of Orange Blossom honey perfect for gift boxes). All proceeds go toward helping transform lives through creating new jobs and helping to launch new careers.

Another cool thing about BoxTheCity? Clients are welcome to request gifts that support women-owned, minority-owned, and LGBTQ-owned small businesses.

BoxTheCity is not a brick-and-mortar gift shop you can visit, but a distribution center that works with hundreds of local makers to fulfill the needs of meeting planners and destination services.
