The Milk District is proud to be home to the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra.
This organization is a bastion of music and culture in The City Beautiful and has worked to enrich, inspire and serve Central Florida through the transformative power of live music since 1993.
After two decades without a dedicated practice space, the Philharmonic purchased The Plaza Live in 2013 to create a home for themselves in our district.
“We love The Milk District,” says Cristina Venturini, the orchestra’s Director of Marketing and Sales. “It’s a community hub and it’s been really fun to watch this neighborhood grow and thrive.”
The Plaza Live hosts a variety of orchestra concert series from children’s shows (such as The Symphony Storytime Series) to multi-performance events (like their Resonate Festival).
The Plaza also hosts other events as supplemental income for the orchestra. You’ll find everything from opera to comedy and all kinds of things in between at The Plaza Live. The best part is that proceeds work to support the Philharmonic.
The orchestra is a community centric organization. It began in 1993 with a program for the Orange County Public Schools system that continues today. Each Fall every enrolled 3rd, 4th and 5th grader in Orange County will get to see a performance from the orchestra for free. To date this local orchestra has reached over a million students through their Young People’s Concerts program.
Another cool fact about the Philharmonic? They were recently featured in Disney’s 50th Anniversary Celebration. They were even introduced by the legendary Whoopi Goldberg! This performance can be streamed on Disney+ or Hulu.
